October Member Spotlight featuring Angelique David

 In Member Spotlight

The WBL Member Spotlight is a chance to get to know a fellow member of our network as she shares her background, experience, and insights as a leader in health care. This month, we are excited to feature Angelique David, Executive Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, and General Counsel at Ziegler. Angelique has been a member of WBL since 2022.

As Ziegler’s Executive Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, Angelique David oversees all of the day-to-day functions of the business and manages all legal and regulatory affairs. Angelique also serves as a Director on Ziegler’s Board, a member of its Executive Committee and Chair of its Operating Committee and DE&I Committee. In addition to her role at Ziegler, Angelique serves as a Trustee for Chicago State University and a Director of WittKieffer.  She also serves as a Director for Chicago State Foundation, Bond Dealers of America and Women in Public Finance.  Angelique is also the Founder and CEO of Just 4 GirlFriends, LLC, an organization dedicated to helping women embrace self-care.

How did you become an executive in the banking industry? Have you always been interested in healthcare?

I have always been passionate about health, wellness (mental and financial), and education and how these “needs” come together to help us live a happy, healthy, and fruitful life.  After practicing law in a national law firm for many years, I was fortunate to find Ziegler, an investment bank that specializes in healthcare, senior living, and education. Ziegler’s focus and mission aligned with my passion!

Beyond your roles as Executive Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, and General Counsel at Ziegler, you serve on many committees and boards and are the founder and CEO of your own LLC. What motivates you to pursue such a wide variety of endeavors?

All of my endeavors center around promoting and/or assisting others to achieve better health, wellness, or educational opportunities.  It is important to me that I involve myself in organizations that focus on these themes so that I can use my skills and expertise to help influence lasting social change.

You’ve been at Ziegler for 15 years with roles of increasing responsibility. Did you receive any mentorship or sponsorship opportunities that helped you advance over the years? If you were mentoring someone with a similar career progression now, what advice would you offer them?

Yes. Throughout my career, I have had many mentors and sponsors that have provided guidance, personally invested in my success, freely opened their networks to me, and championed for my professional advancement. My experience is what drives me to continue the “ripple effect” and be that mentor or sponsor for other professionals. My motto is that “it takes a village to get through this thing called life.”

If I were mentoring someone with a similar career progression I would encourage them to embrace self-care throughout the journey.

Personally or professionally, what might the WBL network be surprised to know about you?

I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two amazing daughters, two rambunctious toy poodles, and two affectionate cockatiels!
