Free White Paper: How can Artificial Intelligence Be Applied to Healthcare in the Future?

In recent years, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning has expanded in nearly every industry. For healthcare organizations, AI has many unique and beneficial applications such as improving diagnostic screening, individualizing treatment of patients, and reducing administrative burden. This white paper explores how healthcare organizations could apply AI along with some common barriers to its adoption.

Event Recap: Tivity Health’s Connectivity Summit on Rural Aging

Tivity Health hosted its third annual Connectivity Summit on Rural Aging to promote healthy aging for rural Americans and to address issues such as social isolation and social determinants of health. The Summit included an action-focused agenda that engaged stakeholders from community and faith-based organizations, industry experts, government, academia and the private sector to improve the health and well-being of rural seniors.

This year’s Connectivity Summit focused on the conditions in which people live, work and age – also known as the social determinants of health – exploring how these factors impact the health of older Americans living and solutions that can mitigate their impact. More than 11,000 Americans are aging into Medicare every day, and nearly 1 in 4 live in rural areas. The annual Summit serves as a driver for change and a forum for key stakeholders to engage to spark innovation and strengthen existing solutions, particularly for those aging in rural areas.

The event featured nearly two dozen speakers and experts, including U.S. Senator William Frist, M.D., award-winning journalist Katie Couric, MIT AgeLab founder and director Joseph Coughlin, Ph.D., Jefferson College of Population Health founding dean emeritus David B. Nash, M.D., M.B.A., Mary Grealy, President, Healthcare Leadership Council, and renowned social isolation researcher Julianne Holt-Lunstad, Ph.D. Other speakers included representatives from Aetna, Humana, Walmart, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Administration for Community Living.

It is exciting to note that the joint paper between HLC and Tivity Health, Determined to Reduce Disparities: Solutions to Address Social Determinants of Health,  served as a framework for the meeting and was an outgrowth from the last WBL Summit in Dallas, TX.  The WBL Summit’s incredible networking opportunities provided the inspiration to plan for the roundtable and the paper that was later published by Tivity Health, HLC and Aetna.
